At Carver Center, volunteers play an essential role in supporting our mission to nourish, educate, and empower. There are opportunities to serve across all of our programs, from youth enrichment and adult education to food distribution and community events.
All volunteers must complete a Volunteer Application and background check before getting started. Once approved, you can volunteer in any of our programs.
Please note:
-
Volunteers ages 13–15 are welcome, but a parent/guardian must volunteer alongside them at all times.
-
Volunteers 16 and older may participate independently.
-
Some programs may require additional training or specific requirements before you can begin.
Current Greatest Need: Carver Market
The Carver Market has been a consistent lifeline for our Port Chester community from the early days of the pandemic through today. Each week, our self-choice market provides a robust selection of fresh produce, protein, and shelf-stable food items.
We currently need volunteers (bilingual Spanish a plus) to help restock and organize shelves, unpack deliveries, and set up for Market days. Some tasks may require the ability to lift boxes.
Corporate & Community Groups
Community groups and corporations are always welcome!
For corporate partners, we offer Impact Hour — a hands-on volunteer experience where your team will help sort and organize recovered food, making a direct impact on our community.
Our Corporate Volunteer Package includes:
-
A 1.5–2 hour shift contributing to an important cause
-
A group photo to commemorate the day
-
The chance to work together in a fun and rewarding environment
-
$500 engagement fee (tax-deductible)
