Each day the Carver Center prepares and delivers a hot, homemade meal for each of the 1,300 children enrolled in its After School Program.- In some cases, it’s the only hot meal a child will have that day.
It truly is Love on a Plate. - Delivering love on a plate begins with monthly planning by Chef Gustavo.
- Chef and his small crew work each day to plan menus, order fresh produce, hand cut ingredients, and cook in healthy ways.
- Hand cutting all the fresh vegetables, fruit, and protein.
- Their cooking is no different than what every family hopes to achieve in their kitchen every day.
- Except, of course, for the volume.
- Once the meals are prepared, they’re boxed and delivered while still hot.
- Mikey, a self-described “Carver kid”, and his team deliver meals to XX schools and preschools in Port Chester.
- Sharing a meal and talking about the day is fun!
- Like any meal, a nutritional break is a good time to relax and socialize.
- For preschoolers at Carver, meals are served family style, but only after the children help set the table.
- Meals are served at school and provide a welcome break for kids as they make the transition from school to after school.
- A meal made with care is more than food, it’s
love on a plate.
